A lively five‑day visit to our Ireland office has strengthened cross‑border collaboration and brought the Smartlift family even closer together. Two of our directors and our marketing manager travelled from the UK to spend dedicated time with our Irish colleagues — a small but mighty two‑person team whose unique working dynamic adds real character to our wider organisation.
Team Building
The purpose of the trip was simple but important: meaningful team building, shared learning, and ensuring our Irish staff feel fully connected to the wider Smartlift culture. Working in a small office can sometimes feel isolating, so spending time face‑to‑face — both in the office and out on the road visiting customers just as we do in the UK — plays a crucial role in strengthening unity and communication across borders.
Work Hard, Play Hard Ethos
Across the five days, the team balanced productive work sessions with plenty of opportunities to enjoy Ireland’s famous hospitality. From exploring local sights to evenings filled with great food, laughter, and even a chance to experience traditional Irish dancing, the trip captured the spirit of Smartlift’s “work hard, play hard” ethos. These moments outside the office weren’t just fun — they helped deepen relationships, build trust, and create shared memories that will carry into future projects and everyday teamwork.
The Market
The visit also offered valuable insight into the Irish market, allowing our UK leaders to see customer interactions first-hand and better understand the challenges and opportunities our colleagues navigate daily. That experience will help shape future strategy and ensure both offices continue to grow in sync, selling our flexible sustainable Packaging Products.
Most importantly, the trip reaffirmed something we already knew: our Irish team may be small, but they are an essential part of who we are. Investing time with them strengthens the whole Smartlift family.
