REGEN

Our REGEN range are our new sustainable packaging products at Smartlift Bulk Packaging.  Smartlift are working hard to make slight changes to our bulk packaging products, to assist us to be more sustainable.

Our bulk bags in the REGEN product range are manufactured with a minimum of 30% recycled content. Two of our packaging items are manufactured entirely of recycled materials which is very exciting for us.

The Name

Our products containing recycled content are called REGEN, which stands for regenerate which means to “Revive, Rejuvenate, Restore.” We are using post industrial recycled polymer in the production of our packaging. As a result this helps to cut down on the amount of virgin material our business produces.

Filled Black Sandbags

Filled black sandbags are made from 100% recycled materials and are completely recyclable.  Our REGEN sandbags are on order and will be available for dispatch to our customers from our King’s Lynn distribution site by mid-November 2023, as a result this thereby contributes to the efforts to become more sustainable.

Pallet Covers

Moving forward, our own pallet covers will be made from 100% recycled materials.  You will notice a change in the colour of these, from white to dark grey with the Smartlift logo. This will therefore give our pallets a more polished and attractive appearance.

Why REGEN?

The foundation for our REGEN line was revealed when the government put a plastic packaging tax on products made of virgin plastic.  The Plastic Packaging Tax promotes the use of recycled plastic in packaging and supports the removal of plastic from landfill sites and incinerators.

Section 45 of the Finance Act 2021 sets out the rate of Plastic Packaging Tax, £200 per tonne and in April 2023 increased from £200 per tonne to £210.82

The packaging tax purpose is to give companies a clear financial incentive to use recycled plastic in the production of plastic packaging, which will increase demand for this product albeit better for the environment.  As a result this will encourage more plastic to be collected and recycled, keeping it out of landfill sites.

Our Sustainability Team

To meet our sustainable objectives, the Smartlift sustainability team, in particular our quality manager, has been collaborating with our manufacturing partners. Consequently, we are able to provide a wider choice of REGEN products at affordable prices without having to pass along the additional plastic packaging tax to our customers.
