Smartlift would like to wish everybody a very Happy New Year and all the best for 2017.

Saying a big thank you to all of our clients who have again supported us throughout 2016 is clearly the way to start this blog. A great year for our business that could have only been achieved with our customers entrusting us with their packaging requirements.

2016 witnessed not only pleasing sales results for us but also many improvements to our business that will allow us to reach our goals for many years to come. For example, our head office extension completed in October allowing us to hold larger stocks for our clients and therefore expand our container intake. We also acquired ISO9001:2015 to complement our already effective quality management system and our office in the South West became a major force having been commissioned by many companies to supply their FIBC + Polythene requirements.

Also last year we introduced weed suppressant fabric or ground cover to our ever increasing portfolio. As an establish supplier of woven polypropylene the product integrated seamlessly into our range and early sales forecasts for 2017 are extremely promising having already won contracts last year. Our ground cover range includes a ‘lite’ product and an ‘HD’ (Heavy Duty) alternative for longer lasting projects. We are now stocking various roll widths up to 4.5m.

It’s worth mentioning the market post Brexit as importers like us have found pricing somewhat ‘challenging’ to say the least. The pounds performance against the dollar has effected all those who bring goods into our country and we are no different. Although we operate in a transparent market, any price increases are never welcomed by either us or our clients. Raw material has also increased by up to $300 per tonne from this time last year and shipping rates have also spiked. Although it is inevitable that increases need to be passed on, our clients can be sure that we do all we can to keep these to a minimum and in these times, our long standing relations with our suppliers and clients alike make Smartlift robust enough to sustain a position in a competitive market without having to compromise the quality of our product.

So with a year of global uncertainty ahead of us we remain confident in our strategy and capable in our approach. We look forward to working closer with our customers enabling us to reach our ambitions.

From all the team at Smartlift Bulk Packaging, A Happy New Year and the very best of Health to you all.
